Yuzu in the Community

One of the most important things for me with Yuzu, is ensuring that I fully integrate both myself and my business into the local community. Giving back is a personal and professional core value for me, I know as a chef that I was hugely fortunate to find a career that i could give my all to and become very passionate about, i’m also very aware that had i not discovered this career path early in life then things could have turned out very differently for me.

I was thrilled and honoured to be asked in the very early days of my new business if i’d like to partner with Bath Rugby Foundation on their Easter Break Out programme. My role would be to provide 90-packed lunches each day, across the 8 day long programme for children located at three different hub sites - Keynsham, Bath and Midsomer Norton. Whilst this is something that is completely different to my usual ‘day job’ and the simplistic style of food is quite some distance from what i am used to, it meant the world to me to know that i could use my knowledge and skills to create delicious and nutritious snacks as part of the lunch box offering. Knowing that working with an incredible charity such as Bath Rugby Foundation, I would be working to provide lunches for vulnerable and underprivileged children in the community, during school holidays which can often be a tricky time for parents to be able to provide childcare and put a meal on the table was hugely rewarding for me. It was a lot of work and a logistical juggle to get everything delivered to all sites on-time each day but we did it and we helped to make a small difference to these children’s Easter holidays and i cannot wait to work Bath Rugby Foundation again in the future.

Bath Rugby Foundation is the charity arm of Bath Rugby, their purpose is to empower vulnerable children and young people in Bath and the surrounding areas, to empower them to succeed. Every year Bath Rugby Foundation works with around 3,000 youngsters who’ve had the toughest start in life.
